Warm Weather, Hot Fishing!

10/9/2015

The weekend forecast calls for very warm weather for October and clear, sunny skies. That should work very well for anyone enjoying the outdoors. Anglers will find the fall fishing pattern has set in. The game fish have become much more aggressive, walleye are being caught on the reefs and along the rocky shorelines. Smallmouth bass can be found along many of the same rocky points and windswept shores. Crappie and northern pike are in the bays and weedy areas. On Rainy River, the annual run of shiner minnows is sparking a very hot walleye bite both in the morning and evening. Grouse hunters are flushing more birds than expected. As more leaves drop to the ground, there will be less cover and the grouse will be more likely to flush. The fall colors have peaked and this may be the perfect weekend for a hike, or even a scenic drive. If you hike please put safety first and wear some blaze orange.
