If you’re looking to ditch the busy traffic, lengthy rollercoaster lines and expensive metropolis for your next family vacation,  a trip to Rainy Lake just might be the answer you’ve been waiting for.

Although magic kingdoms and water parks can be fun, the sights, sounds and serenity that nature has to offer is hard to beat. Book a trip to Rainy Lake and experience the beauty of the interconnected water highways that make up Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota's only National Park! This is one vacation that the whole family will enjoy!

While there are endless ways to revel in the tranquility of Rainy Lake, we would like to share with you 5 tips that will guarantee a fun and memorable family vacation:

3. Hike to Health - The Voyageurs National Park Hike to Health Passport Program is a fun and engaging way to help excite kids to get outside and get active. Booklets for this program are available at Rainy Lake Visitors Center and lists hiking trails in the park by region. When you complete 5, 10, and all trails listed within the book, you will receive a prize for your work. Get more information on the Hike to Health Program.

1. Introduce the Kids to Camping - Camping is a Rainy Lake family favorite. Rainy Lake has 46 front country campsites located within Voyageurs National Park, making it the perfect location for family bonding over marshmallow roasts, firefly chases, and unforgettable adventures. Each sequestered campsite comes complete with a sandy swimming area, fire pit, and food lockers. Get pictures and more information on the Rainy Lake campsites and amenities.

2.
Experience a Home Away From Home - On the Water! - Renting a houseboat is a great way to experience the breathtaking tranquility of Rainy Lake without having to leave all the conveniences behind. Houseboats are equipped with on-board sleeping facilities, cooking and storage facilities, and a no-discharge toilet. With Voyageurs National Park being over 40% water, this is a unique and unforgettable way to experience all the grandeur of Rainy Lake. Check out more information on the Houseboat Tours in Northern Minnesota.

4. Watch for Northern Lights - Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as Northern Lights are collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the Earth’s atmosphere. This creates bright dancing lights across the sky. This dazzling phenomenon is witnessed often by the locals and visitors of Rainy Lake.

5. Enjoy a Rainy Lake Tour - Join Voyageurs National Park staff as they guide you on a tour showcasing some of Rainy Lake’s greatest sights. Keep an eye out for active eagle nests and a large variety of other wildlife that reside on the shorelines of Rainy Lake. This is an exciting and educational opportunity that will guarantee a good time for everyone! Reserve your spot today!
We could go on and on about events and adventures that make Rainy Lake a great family destination, but we encourage you to come and experience it for yourself!
