Rainy Lake

Rainy Lake has been an attraction for thousands of years! Native groups used the natural waterway and reaped the benefit of plants and animals in the widely varied habitats of the northern forest. Industry used the waterways to carry trade goods, lumber and wood for paper production.

Rainy River

Savvy anglers plan their fishing vacations around some very important time frames. First, Rainy River remains open for walleye fishing until mid-April allowing for the earliest possible open water fishing in Minnesota. This is also the time when walleye are running upstream from Lake of the Woods.
