This weekend brings the Ranier Summer Festival with lots of entertainment planned. There will also be fun things like lawn mower races, kids games, food vendors, sailboat rides and more. If you want to take a break from fishing, take in the events in Ranier. Speaking of fishing, anglers are heading for the reefs east of Brule Narrow for the best walleye bite. Fish the edges of the reefs in about 25 feet of water. Minnows, crawlers and leeches are all working for the walleye and some smallmouth bass are also being caught on the reef edges. The best smallmouth bite has been on the windward side of the rocky points. Walleye are also being caught west of Brule Narrows with Sand Bay being mentioned a lot. Crappie are biting in Black Bay, especially closer to the Rat Root River.
Rainy River anglers are focused on sturgeon and the bite has been good. You will do best dropping a couple worms almost to the bottom in the deeper holes. Walleye anglers are finding the best bite in about 15 feet of water and shiner minnows are working the best. |
