Walleye are hitting jigs and minnows early in the day around Birch Point and near Rainy Lake City in Black Bay. Anglers are venturing to other areas on the lake, but birch Point and Black Bay have been the most popular and productive.
Voyageurs National Park has staked and opened the Kabetogama to Crane Lake trail so you can now sled from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center, through Kabetogama to Ash River and on to Crane Lake. Snowshoe and ski trails are getting some use and a little fresh snow will be welcome this weekend.
