It’s downright cold as this update is being prepared, so it’s fortunate there’s an Outdoor Expo being held indoors this weekend. There are seminars on hunting and fishing, vendors, food, fun and games and prizes. It’s the sixth annual Outdoor Expo at the Evangelical Covenant Church at 1631 First Avenue East in International Falls.
For those that are actually getting outdoors, walleye fishing remains open on Rainy River until April 14th. Sturgeon fishing is also a possibility. Birders have noted the return of many migrating birds, especially waterfowl. Hikers have been able to get out on many of the trails although some low lying areas will be a bit wet from snow melt. If you want to mostly stay inside your vehicle, consider a scenic drive to any of the nearby waterfalls where that snow melt is resulting in thundering cascades. Give us a call at 1 800 325 5766 or email us at email@example.com if you want directions to some great nearby options where you will find hiking trails, observation areas and safety railings. We’d be happy to help. (During the weekend, our offices are closed, so an email will be better than a phone call, but Monday, we’ll be here as usual).
Speaking of Monday, that’s when the forecasts say this cold blast will back off and we will resume some more moderate spring like temperatures.
