Summertime park activities are many including boat tours, walking trails, naturalist-guided activities and programs. Voyageurs National Park’s Rainy Lake Visitor Center is the park’s northern gateway.
A vacation would not be complete without dining at one of several resorts or inns that offer waterfront dining. We also have our fair share of specialty shops, art galleries, ice cream parlors, pubs and cafés.
Warm, sunny days fill the months of summer a very popular vacation season for those who enjoy balmy temps, fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing, golfing, wildlife watching or simply relaxing while watching the world go by.
Of course, fishing ranks as the number one summertime activity.
Undoubtedly, Rainy Lake is a world-class fishery throughout the year. Walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, sauger and crappie are the five most popular summertime species.
Boating is a relaxing way to get away “from it all.” Whether you travel by houseboat, motorized fishing boat, canoe or kayak, you will find hundreds of secluded bays and corners to call your own. Pine-studded islands dot the water landscape and there are many designated picnic sites to stop at for a shore lunch, or simply a day of swimming and basking in the sun.
