Get On the Water

You will find many opportunities to launch your boat and get out on the water to enjoy the Rainy Lake area.


Ron Hall Access

In International Falls, the Ron Hall Access will put you on the Rainy River downstream from the dam and a bit upstream from the Falls Country Club. This access is among the first available for spring fishing on the River.


Pat Roche Access

Above the dam and below the Ranier Rapids, the Pat Roche access also features a tour boat dock that also serves as a nice fishing pier. The access is adjacent to the Voyageurs National Park Headquarters.


Ranier Public Access

The public access in Ranier is located above the Ranier Rapids just east of the Railroad Bridge. This access will put you into Sand Bay on Rainy Lake, often one of the most productive walleye areas on the Lake.


The Bohman Access

The Bohman Access is located near Crystal Beach and features a check in phone for boaters returning to the United States from Canada that may be required to check in. The parking lot at the Bohman Access is one of the largest on the Lake.


Tilson Bay Access

Tilson Bay Access will put you one the Lake near many of the resorts. You will also find a hiking trail, cross country ski trail and fishing pier available at the Tilson Bay access.


Rainy Lake Visitor Center

The ramp at the Rainy Lake Visitor Center for Voyageurs National Park provides a launch in the summer and access to the ice road in the winter. There’s plenty of parking with overflow lots located a couple blocks from the ramp. You will also find hiking trails, picnic grounds and shore fishing areas.


Dove Island Access

The small ramp at Dove Island provides perfect access to Black Bay and the bays and shorelines to the east where anglers often find some of the best walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass fishing.

Rat Root River Access

Rat Root River Access

This access is located on County Road 119 which is just a little more than a mile south of Ericsburg off of Highway 53 (12 miles south of International Falls.) Launch here to fish for crappie, walleye and pike in the Rat Root River and Lake. You can boat to the west end of Black Bay on Rainy Lake from this boat ramp.
